Czech mining technology can assert itself on the Chinese market
From the point of view of Czech exports it is important that China is the third largest world importer. The joint approach taken within the framework of the Czech Mining Technology (CDT) alliance has opened up the way to more significant contracts.
There was an opportunity for Czech companies in the form of participation at the specialist Chinese China Coal and Mining Expo 2005 in Peking. The Czech Republic was represented by official participation under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Trade over a surface area in excess of 100 m2. The trade fair saw a concentration not only of the managing directors from the most important mining spheres, but also the directors of individual collieries, main mining engineers, and specialists in electro and machine-tool engineering technology of mining companies in China. This made it possible to get down to concretisation of technical requirements of individual deliveries. For all the Czech companies from the alliance this was the first visit to China. We are already holding talks on another two events in the same provinces, in order to revive and develop contacts acquired. Another presentation should take place from February to March 2006. We are already discussing the possibility of opening a Czech office of the CDT in China. There has been interest shown in establishing Czech-Chinese companies in other spheres, e.g. electrical equipment.
The export alliance of Czech Mining Technology (CDT), in cooperation with CzechTrade and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is successfully presenting and gradually acquiring interesting contract abroad for two years. China definitely belongs to the key markets of the long-term interest of the alliance, of whose 13 members eight were presented in October, amongst them Ferrit and its supplier of electrical elements for mining equipment, ZAM servis .
“Thanks to the presentation Czech companies visited the most important Chinese provinces from the point of view of quarrying coal, and thanks to meetings with the highest representatives of the larges Chine mining companies, with which they were able to discus concrete possibilities of future cooperation, they acquired an overview of the Chinese mining industry. In each of the places, including presentations at the China Coal and Mining Expo, they managed to encourage concrete interests in the modernisation of mining equipment,“ said the managing director of CzechTrade.
On 17 and 18 October representatives of the alliance visited the province of Liaoning and presented their offer to the management of the Fushun Mining Group. This has more than 37,000 employees and owns a deep mine and extensive surface collieries, which are expanding into further surface mining. Interest in equipment for mines was also confirmed in the province of Shandong, where the CDT, along with CzechTrade, gave a presentation to two large mining companies, the Zibo Mining Group and Yacheng Mining Group, each of which employs more than 30,000 people. Partners showed an interest in supplies of electrical equipment, especially substations and high voltage electrical motors and mining locomotives.
The CDT completed the series of events by participating at the investment conference in the Shanxi province in the city of Taiyuan and a meeting with the governor of the province. "The Shanxi province needs to expand its machine-tool and mining industry and beef up the energy sector with the construction of power stations. The whole of China suffers an under-dimensioned power market, in most of the cities electricity is switched off during the night," said Ivan Vyroubal from CzechTrade in Shanghai, where he heads all the alliance’s presentations for the agency. The local mining company showed the greatest interest in security systems for mines. Experts in the sphere estimate that every year more than 15,000 people lose their lives in Chinese mines because of inadequate safety equipment.
"China is for us a demanding but very interesting market on which we want to expand our operations. The value has been demonstrated of the combination of participation at trade fairs and the organisation of targeted presentations for specialists in individual mines along with CzechTrade, and we want to expand this cooperation onto other markets. As well as China we are interested in the Ukraine and Russia, as well as Mongolia, and in the future the markets of Iran and Afghanistan, as well as countries of Central and Latin America, above all Mexico, Peru, Chile and Argentina,“ said Jiří Šářec.
