Mining ground locomotive of the type DLP140F (DLP140F13t)  it is intended for the transport of material or workers into the horizontal productions with the rail way with the wheel track of 550-900mm with max. dip of the way of 35 ‰.

Locomotive it is permitted to exploit in surrounding dangerous on the explosion of methane and carbon dust to the degree SNM 2 on § 232 About. ČBÚ No. 22/1989 SV in the editorial staff of sequential orders. In the correspondence with the order of the government of No.NV 23/2003 (directive of the European Parliament and council EU No.  94/9/EC device is included in the group „I“and the category M2. Locomotive satisfies the requirements NV 176/2008 (directive of the European Parliament and council EU No.  2006/42/EC).

For facilitating the transport into the mine the locomotive is dismantled to three basic parts. Control of locomotive is carried out from the cabs, equipped by the elements of control, monitoring and safety, including sensor of methane, and also by the instruments, intended for safe control of locomotive. The performance of cab guarantees a good view of way and reliable protection from the injury and the unfavorable external influences to the service personnel. Locomotive is equipped with the six-cylinder electronically controlled Diesel engine of the type John Deere 6068F with the hydrostatic transfer.
Engine is processed for the operation in mining conditions with the protection of the suction and exhaust outlines, which prevents to the initiation of the explosion of methane and its transfer into the unprotected atmosphere. Exhaust gases are cooled in the special exhaust conditioner so that their output temperature would not exceed 70°C. Initiation of engine is carried out by the hydrostarter. The transfer of power on the axle of the wheels of movement carries out the hydraulic composition of transfer with the automatic adjustment of power through the mutually connected mechanical reducers, placed on the axes.
Hydrostatic transfer is provide ford with the system of the direct adjustment of the hydraulic engine, which ensures the adjustment of power in optimum operating conditions and depending on frequency and pressures in the hydro-outline limits the random overload of hydraulic engine. Electronic and monitoring system follow operating conditions of locomotive, speed, worked out motor hours, values of pressure and temperature of diesel- hydraulic aggregate, concentration of methane, defects and etc. With the exceeding the specific values or emergency automatically is included whistle and occurs engine cutoff and the stoppage of locomotive.
Locomotive is permitted to use as the source of pressure for the connection of additional hydraulics (for example. the hydraulic drill presses, manual stop hammer and the others.).
