Braking carriages for heavy-duty suspension lines BTs

The BTs braking carriage is a braking facility used to prevent transport sets from spontaneously driving away on slanting parts of suspension lines founded on I155 bearing profile. The transport sets may be dragged by a diesel- or electrically driven locomotive or by a winch with open or endless rope. 

The braking carriage may be used in environments involving hazards of methane and coal dust explosion up to the degree SNM2 according to § 232 of the Decree of the Czech Mining Office no. 22/1989 Coll., as amended. According to the Government Order No. GO 23/2003 (Directive of European Parliament and Council EU 94/9/EC) the equipment is ranked within the group I., category M2 and meets all requirements of GO 176/2008 (Directive of European Parliament and Council EU 2006/42/EC).  

The braking carriage is operated automatically and independently of the crew. It is fitted with a speed limiter adjusted in such as way that its centrifugal mechanism sends a braking command whenever the preset maximum speed is exceeded.

The braking carriage must be connected to each independently transported vehicle or set in such a way that it is always located before the set seen in the downfall direction. Whenever alternating slant of the line with transport along a rope is the case, the carriage must be connected to both ends of the set. On slanting tracks with transport driven by a diesel monorail locomotive, the carriage must be positioned at the end of the set.

The braking carriages may be combined into sets of two or three independent carriages. Out-of-the-way transport is involved if three braking carriages are combined. In such case personal transport is prohibited.
