Last Meter Excavated: The End of an Era in Czech Mining
27. 6. 2025

At the ČSM Mine in Stonava – the last black coal mine in the Czech Republic – the symbolic final meter of underground roadway was excavated, marking the end of a 59-year era of tunneling that began in 1967.

Over the decades, more than 1.1 million meters of mining roadways were driven – a distance that would take the miners all the way to Paris.

FERRIT s.r.o. has proudly served as a long-standing technological partner of OKD, a.s. for decades. We have supplied mining machinery, participated in the development of deep mining solutions, and supported daily operations underground. We are grateful for the trust that has been placed in us time and again.

A special thank you goes to all the miners, engineers, designers, and professionals who contributed to this extraordinary achievement. Your expertise and dedication form the backbone of Czech mining history.

Although coal production at the ČSM Mine will continue until 2026, this moment represents a major milestone, and we are proud to have been part of it.
